1907 - The Finnish government granted women the right to vote in the election to become the first country in Europe to give women the right.
1913- US President Woodrow Wilson meets with reporters to respond to their questions in what was seen as the first presidential press conference in the history of the United States. 
1916 US President Woodrow Wilson sends thousands of US troops to Mexico to capture the Rebel Gen. Pancho Villa.
1917 - Tsar Nicholas II give up the throne of Russia. 
1933 - the annexation of Austria to Germany. 
1939 - the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Germany.
 2003 Hu Jintao assume the presidency of China, succeeded Jiang Zemin, who ruled the country ten years.
